REAL operates three core programs– the People’s Free Kitchen (providing 100-150 weekly meals), the People’s Freedom Farm (cultivating food sovereignty), and the People’s Defense Program (offering martial arts training, emergency casualty care, and self-defense education) all structured through democratic centralist principles and sustained through rigorous criticism and self-criticism. The organization explicitly identifies as Marxist-Leninist from first contact with community members, rejecting the strategy of concealing political commitments, and instead demonstrates through consistent action how communist organizing principles produce measurable results that liberal charity and anarchist mutual aid cannot replicate.
