Confronting Imperialism

Christopher Helali

Abstract

This article, Confronting Imperialism: Speech at the 1st National Convention of the ACP, presents Christopher Helali’s strategic assessment of the current global conjuncture and articulates the internationalist responsibilities of the American Communist Party (ACP). Delivered amid escalating geopolitical conflict, the speech identifies seven key fronts of the expanding U.S.–EU–NATO imperialist war system — from Ukraine and Palestine to Africa, Latin America, and the Arctic — and argues that these struggles are unified expressions of a single imperialist offensive threatening world peace. Rooted in a Marxist-Leninist framework, Helali situates contemporary conflicts within the historical continuity of anti-fascist and anti-colonial resistance, asserting that Russia’s Special Military Operation and the Axis of Resistance constitute a renewed fight against fascism and Western domination. The article details the ACP’s rapid advancement in the international communist movement, including membership in the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, participation in United Nations proceedings, and diplomatic engagement with parties and governments across multiple continents. Helali emphasizes that the central task of the ACP is to forge unity among global anti-imperialist forces and wage an ideological struggle against revisionism, liberalism, and opportunism that obscure the principal contradiction of our era: the battle between Euro-Atlantic imperialism and the world’s oppressed nations. The paper concludes that only through the defeat of U.S.–EU–NATO imperialism can socialism and lasting world peace be achieved, calling upon party members to embrace this historic mission.
